Greg Wiebe

Counsellor for those in crisis

Greg is a compassionate counsellor dedicated to walking alongside people through life’s most difficult seasons. With warmth, authenticity, and a deep respect for each individual’s story, he creates a safe and supportive space where clients can explore, heal, and grow. His approach blends professional expertise with lived experience, offering guidance that is both practical and deeply human.

Who I am…

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) in Prince George, BC. My passion for helping others and my deep empathy for those navigating overwhelming experiences, loss, disconnection, or trauma are at the heart of my work. I take a validating, relational approach, grounded in authenticity and trust. At the core of my practice is a commitment to fostering genuine connection and creating a supportive space where healing and growth can take place.

I also tend to be a dialectical and systems-approach kind of thinker which helps shape my understanding of people, personality, and problems. As such, I will strive to understand your context and to become authentically attuned to all the parts of you that you bring into the counselling space. This approach can help me better understand you and the things going on in your life that bring you to counselling therapy. It can also help us determine what Finding Forward looks like for you. None of us gets through this life on our own. Perhaps together, we can take some steps towards alleviating distress and achieving your goals.

What I do…

People and their problems are unique, and for counselling to be effective, the counsellor’s approach must align with the person and be relevant for addressing the problems they experience, not the other way around. For this reason, I am very Person-Centred and typically draw from a variety of therapeutic frameworks, blending techniques and interventions from various counselling approaches, to provide client-centred, personalized support.

My perspective and methods are informed by Attachment Theory and Existentialism, Rogerian, Psychodynamic, Emotionally Focused, Adlerian, Solutions-Focused, Gestalt, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive (MBCT), Compassion Focused (CFT), Dialectical Behavioural (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment therapies. I align with a variety of trauma processing and integration therapies and have completed level 1 training for Observed Experiential Integration (OEI).

Personal and Professional Experiences that have shaped me and my understanding…

I have enjoyed multiple professional paths and I have several years of experience providing social, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to people from multiple walks of life. I supported students in the Prince George Public School system for six years. I then worked with incarcerated youth and Correctional staff for two years under the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Before I transitioned into fulltime private clinical counselling, I worked in Adult Corrections for eight years, and provided fulltime support to incarcerated adults, Correctional Officers, and Correctional staff.

As such, I have considerable experience working with trauma survivors, neurodiverse clients (individuals with differences in processing), individuals with traumatic or developmental brain injuries, and people who identify with various forms of faith or spirituality and cultural backgrounds, individually and in groups. I am experientially trauma-informed, naturally trauma-attuned, and continually strive to be culturally responsive. I regularly integrate brain, body, mind, and soul approaches. I also have experience helping recipients of psychedelic-assisted treatments process and integrate what they have experienced and learned from their journeys.

I continue to be active, adventurous, and deeply connected to a personal faith and spirituality, one that has been forged through the fires of my own experiences with pain, grief and loss. My intention and hope is to help clients work towards their goals so they can live their most meaningful lives. If this seems like a good fit for you, then let’s connect…
